                 NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mass on the Grass and Blessing of the Pets:  In honor of the Feast of St. Francis, St. Luke’s will have an outdoor celebration of our Sunday Eucharist on October 5, 2008, at our usual time, 9:30 a.m., where all are invited to come to worship with our pets.  There will honor all of God’s Creation with individual blessings for each pet.  Please feel free to invite your friends and neighbors, bring a lawn chair for each human, and appropriate leashes and critter cages for those who might be shy or nervous around other people or animals.  Water and treats will be provided for the animals.  Feel free to bring a picnic lunch for after the service if you like and we will have drinks available.  There will be a Sunday School holiday that day, October 5.

Camping Trip: Kerry Freeman and others are planning a camping trip for St. Luke’s parishioners and friends the weekend of November 7-9 to Hunting Island, SC. Participants will be responsible for their own camping gear with meals to be worked out in community.  Contact Kerry Freeman at freemanod@comcast.net for more detailed information and to sign up.

Middle School:  There will be a brief meeting of middle school parents and children after the dinner this Sunday, Sept 28, to talk about their participation in Crossfire Youth on Wednesday evenings.

Nursery: St. Luke’s needs a kind and patient group of volunteers to be scheduled in a rotation (2 per Sunday) to care for children in the Nursery during our Sunday Eucharist worship service.  Each volunteer must complete the course “Safeguarding Our Children.” Please contact Tina Sheredy at CHYNNSHER@aol.com if you feel called to this important ministry.

Adult Christian Education Class will meet next after the service on October 12.  We will be discussing Chapters 6 and 7 of The Heart of Christianity by Marcus Borg, and asking the question “What is the Kingdom of God?”.  Please feel free to join us!

Stewardship Committee: If you are or intend to become a pledging member of our faith community, consider joining the Stewardship Committee, which will organize and coordinate our Fall Stewardship Campaign. For further information, contact Lloyd Johnson at (912) 233-1005 or at LloydAJohnson@comcast.net.
